Shaudi Bianca Vahdat is a Seattle-based musician and theatre artist. Her vocal and performance style reflect a diverse training in jazz, musical theatre, classical, and both American and Iranian folk music. Her experience as an actor (currently with local fringe favorite The Horse in Motion, of which she is a co-founding member) and her love of poetry and theatre also come through her lyrics and composition work.
Shaudi's 2012 debut EP, Some Songs, explores story-driven songwriting with sparse piano and guitar arrangements. Shaudi's newest EP, Left, was released August 8, 2017, and carries the storytelling thread while playing with fuller arrangements including bass, multiple guitars, and piano.
Shaudi also composes for the theatre, most recently contributing to BrechtFest (with The Horse in Motion), and the world premiere of The Things Are Against Us (Washington Ensemble Theatre). Favorite acting roles include Garth in Wellesley Girl (The Horse in Motion), Natasha in The Brothers K (Book-It Repertory Theatre), and Shen-Teh in BrechtFest (The Horse in Motion).
A strong believer in the power of the arts to assist in the progress of humanity and unite people of all backgrounds, Shaudi seeks to use music to normalize multiculturalism and multilingualism for her audiences, often performing in both English and Farsi.
Shaudi holds a BA in Drama Performance with a minor in Music from the University of Washington. Find her work on iTunes, Spotify, and all of the other streaming services.
